This is an original manuscript meticulously handwritten by a scribe known as a (Sofer) on genuine gazelle parchment. This scroll is rare and seldom seen in synagogues or offered for sale due to its age.
A religious manuscript written in Eastern square Hebrew script in a style consistent with the Yemeni school known for copying Torah and liturgical texts.
The calligraphy style is disciplined and methodical, reflecting the known traditions of Yemenite Jews in the 16th century CE, with regular columns and balanced spacing between lines and letters.
The back text indicates that this particular piece contains text from the Book of Exodus, which narrates the story of the Israelites' liberation from slavery in Egypt and the descent of the Torah on Mount Sinai.
The scroll dates back to the period between (1580 CE - 1630 CE), within the known timeframe of the flourishing of religious manuscript copying among Yemenite Jews before subsequent shifts in copying styles and materials.
