It was the highest denomination in the Kingdom and served as a substitute receipt for silver riyals, making it easy for pilgrims to use within the Kingdom without the need to deal with heavy coins or foreign currencies.
The currency contained several languages, including (Arabic, Persian, English, Urdu, Turkish, and Malay) so that pilgrims from different countries could understand it.
