An archaeological book titled Explanation of the Divine Comm

500
An archaeological book by the author (Francis Paris) and dated 1694 AD. This volume completes the exposition begun in the previous volume, addressing the commandments related to duties towards others, particularly those concerning murder, impurity, theft, lying, and covetousness, analyzing them in light of Catholic doctrine, the Bible, Church Fathers, and matters of conscience. The author develops a precise and easy-to-understand didactic method, blending scriptural quotations, historical examples, inspiring stories, and practical applications for daily life, while condemning social and personal vices in a strong rhetorical style characterized by compassion and dignity. He emphasizes the necessity of good intention, inner vigilance, and moral reform, linking divine law with human freedom, and justice with mercy, from a pastoral and salvific perspective. This treatise, addressed to confessors, preachers, and devout laypeople, reflects the efforts to simplify theology and ethics that characterized the Counter-Reformation movement, where the word of God became a guide for life, a mirror for conscience, and a path to Christian perfection. Cover condition is excellent, the book is bound in its original brown leather from that period, with signs of use, worn corners and edges, and three gold bands surrounding the covers with small flowers in sections, gilded edges, a beautifully decorated spine, with gilded title and volume numbers. Internal pages condition is excellent, with some light spotting, an illustration on the title page, beautiful top and bottom edges, and marbled endpapers. The book has 488 pages in French.
