These two banknotes are from the "Sanctions Period" (1991-2002), a pivotal historical phase in Iraq's economy, where they were printed locally with simple security features compared to previous international issues. Here is a detailed presentation of the historical and technical information for each: 1. Half Dinar Note (1993 Issue) This note is a celebration of Islamic science and architecture in Iraq. Front: Features an image of the "Astrolabe," an ancient astronomical instrument that Arabs excelled in using to determine time and star positions, symbolizing Iraq's scientific heritage. Back: Displays a drawing of the famous "Malwiya Minaret of Samarra," a unique architectural symbol from the Abbasid era. Technical Condition: Its printing used muted brown and gray colors, and this print lacks complex watermarks or advanced security threads due to the economic sanctions at the time. 2. Quarter Dinar Note (1993 Issue) This denomination focuses on the country's agricultural and archaeological aspects. Front: Depicts the dense palm groves that Iraq is famous for (the land of 30 million palm trees), a symbol of bounty and generosity in Iraqi culture. Back: Features an image of "Al-Wastani Gate," the only remaining gate from the ancient Abbasid walls of Baghdad, located near the Sheikh Omar area. Colors: Dominated by light green and pink colors with intricate geometric designs.
