What does DTT mean?
It is a very organized training method,
We divide the skill into a set of small trials,
Each trial includes clear instruction → child's response → reinforcement or correction.
Steps of DTT:
Instruction: The therapist tells the child what is required.
Response: The child tries to perform the behavior.
Consequence: Reinforcement if correct, or correction if wrong.
Intertrial Interval: A short time before the next trial.
A simplified example:
The therapist says: "Show me the apple."
The child points to the apple.
The therapist says: "Well done!" and gives him a star.
After a few seconds, a new trial begins.
Why is it important?
It makes learning organized and clear.
It repeats trials so the child masters the skill.
It allows the therapist to accurately measure progress.
📌 Summary:
Discrete Trial Training is an essential tool in ABA,
It makes learning organized, repetitive, and based on clear steps,
This allows the child to acquire skills faster
