They supported the permissibility with what was narrated by Muslim (2619) from Abu Huraira about the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) who said: "A woman entered the fire because of a cat that she had tied up; she neither fed it nor did she allow it to roam to eat from the insects of the earth until it died of starvation." They said: The origin of the "lam" is ownership, meaning his statement: (a cat that belongs to her). Anything that is owned and can be benefited from can be sold. See: "Kashaf al-Qina" (3/ 153). Ibn Qudamah, may Allah have mercy on him, said: "As for the cat, Al-Khiraqi said: Its sale is permissible. This was also said by Ibn Abbas, Al-Hassan, Ibn Sirin, Al-Hakam, Hamad, Al-Thawri, Malik, Al-Shafi'i, Ishaq, and the companions of opinion.
