Urgent Correction for Medical Device Use of Continuous Glucose Monitoring with Paracetamol or Acetaminophen This important safety notice applies to the Minilved 780G system (versions MIT-1885, MIT-1886, NT-1895, and IT-1896). This notice warns of the effect of paracetamol or acetaminophen on Sensor Glucose (SG) values. Taking medications containing paracetamol or acetaminophen, including but not limited to fever reducers and cold remedies, while wearing the sensor may cause falsely high sensor glucose readings and over-delivery of insulin. The level of measurement inaccuracy depends on the amount of active paracetamol or acetaminophen in the body and may vary from person to person. If paracetamol or acetaminophen is taken, the medication should be stopped before using sensor glucose readings to make treatment decisions. Use additional blood glucose (BG) meter readings to verify glucose levels. While SmartGuard is in Auto Mode, set a temporary target if a medication containing paracetamol or acetaminophen has been taken recently. Check the label of any medication to confirm if it contains paracetamol or acetaminophen as an active ingredient. Contact your local Medtronic support representative for assistance.
